Owatonna Market Buzz
There's still plenty of good news regarding mortgage interest rates as they remain low and stable. It looks like a positive time for buyers to think about moving. It's been a good time for buyers to find terrific values for homes in Owatonna. Here are the statistics for Owatonna's market though 3/5/10 since the first of the year:

Sold 33 homes at an average sale price of $118,175 within an average market time of 88 days. Houses are selling for an average of 96.37 percent of the last list price and 91.26 percent of the original list price.

We'll be working hard to make up the difference in prices that we've seen so far this year as compared to last year. I would imagine a fair number of buyers are not yet feeling the urgency to act on the tax credit incentive that is set to expire with a purchase agreement date of April 30th.

Now's a great time for buyers to purchase - taking advantage of prices, desirable interest rates, terrific homes to choose from, AND the tax credit incentives.

We currently have 235 homes for sale in Owatonna at an average list price of $172,262 and they've been on the market for an average of 173 days.

Our lot inventory is plentiful with 259 lots currently available at an average list price of $51,858. We're fortunate to have many nice areas for building to choose from.

The massive amounts of snow that we experienced this winter are melting at a steady pace with the above 30 degree temps that we've had all week long. It's been such a nice early Spring with plenty of sunshine. Even though it's hard to say goodbye to cross country skiing, it's fun to look forward to tennis and biking. We'll be out there in no time.

The rain is bringing the first signs of Spring - my deck is peeking through the snow. Before you know it I'll be able to get the deck cleaned off and filled with the patio furniture.

The Owatonna Chamber's “3rd Thursday” event sponsored by the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism continues this month. It’s a great opportunity for networking, and a free lunch is provided. Lynn's Personal Info
My husband, Greg, and I have been a part of the Owatonna community since 1986. During that time I've found that Owatonna is a wonderful place to live, work, play, and raise a family. We are very fortunate to have terrific schools, plenty of recreation available through our parks, and a quality of life that can't easily be duplicated.

I've been involved with a variety of different community organizations, and I think you'll find that there is something available for every interest. I currently serve on the Steele County United Way Board and am part of the Community Investment process. As a member of the Owatonna Ambassadors I have the chance to meet other business owners and managers who live and work in our area, and I've served on the Owatonna Chamber Board of Directors. I've also enjoyed volunteering as a Sunday school teacher at Associated Church, a school site mentor with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and have also served on their local board of directors. In addition, I have a strong interest in personal financial management and have participated through Steele County Extension as a credit consultant to families in need of assistance.

As a parent of two children (now teenagers) I was involved as the Vice President of Wilson School's PTA, Vice President of the Owatonna Girl's Hockey Association, Owatonna Blue Line Club committees and a volunteer parent mentor working with the Owatonna Exchange Center. As an active volunteer it's been such a reward to meet so many people who are committed to making a positive difference in lives of the people within our community.
